Lola, L-O-L-A......

Lola.

Here she is in all of her glory- Lola is a friend of Duncan. If you don't know who Duncan is, you can learn all about him here.

Anyone, this post isn't about Duncan, it's all about Lola! What a beauty! I created this shortly after the last Duncan painting I created- Duncan III. This is also an acrylic painting, however, instead of painting on canvas, I used a canvas board that's been sitting around the studio.

Buy prints of Lola on canvas here.

Want to create your own paintings? I recommend using Basics paint and canvas board below:

As you know, I am preparing for Art in the Park and I can't wait for this weekend! If you are going to be in the Keene area, come on down and say hi! There is going to be some great art from over 85 artists on display.

Anyway, I just wanted to touch base before art in the park and update you on some of the new art I've been working on.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment in the comment section below.

Duncan 3

Here is the third installment in my Duncan series "Duncan 3". He's addicted to sugar and it only takes him one lick to get to the center of a lollipop. Aside from being busy working on a children's book, I have actually been taking some time to work on couple of other birds as well.

Prints available here.

However, it's been tough finding time for other projects. Once Art in the Park is over and I have made some great progress on the kids book. Once I have more information on the book, I will let you know.

In other news, Summer feels like it's over huh? The weather has made a huge shift from hot to extremely nice weather during the days (rain aside) and cool nights... which I love!

Fall is around the corner and I can't wait. I hope you are able to enjoy the rest of Summer while it lasts!

Duncan II

Here is the second of three paintings I created recently. Duncan II isn't he so cute? He has such a sweet tooth too! I have a few others I have been working on.

I am actually thinking of working on a larger version of Duncan, I am talking about a 5' Duncan! What do you think of that!?!?

Buy prints here.

Anyway, I have been working on a lot of projects lately so it's been hard to take time away to scan, crop, and upload art for viewing on the blog... I know "first world problems".

I am sorry and I will "try" to be more diligent about it. However, I am an artist (not a writer) and I will do what I can.

I will however, reveal that I have been working on a book, a kids books and it is really coming along! I am very excited about it and I look forward to sharing more with you soon! This has been consuming a lot of my time recently so I appreciate your patience  in between each blog post. I promise it will be all worth it, plus your kids will be very excited!

Back Rooms of My Mind Door #25113

Here's a new drawing from the Back Rooms of My Mind series- Door #25113

I know what you are thinking... boy is this guy crazy! It's understandable because it's probably true!

Prints available here.

I love creating these drawings because this is the way my mind works. If you are thinking of creating with ink I recommend Pigma Micron Pen Set 0.45mm 6/Pkg - Earth/Heritage (Google Affiliate Ad).
I started using these two months ago and I have been loving them! They are so smooth and I am able to add more details -very tiny details- to a drawing which gives them more depth. Bonus: These pens are waterproof!

One a week art project 51 of 52: Bird in a Cage 1

Here is the latest from my One a week art project 51 of 52: Bird in a Cage 1

Prints available here.

I’ve been wanting to create this drawing for a while now. I actually drew a few of these birds in one of my Back Rooms Of My Mind drawings Door #13113.

I was inspired to create this drawing while listening to a song “Bird in a house” by the band- Railroad Earth. I heard this song and instantly replayed this song over and over again. If it were vinyl, I would have to purchase a new record by now.

Here's a great watercolor pencil starter set
Prismacolor Premier Watercolor Colored Art Pencils, 24 Colored Pencils (Google Affiliate Ad)

Over the course of a few months, the song would play and I would envision these birds trapped in a cage. Finally, I decided to put pen to paper and draw them. I created this by drawing everything out in pencil and then I inked this with waterproof pens. Then I added some color and water to the watercolor paper and I was finished.

I recommend you listen to the song as well. I feel that this song will resonate with lots people because there are so many people in similar situations where they feel trapped.
“There is a bird in a house and he’s trying to get out.” -RRE
Those words ring true with anyone out there in the multiverse?

Happy St. Paddy's Day and be safe everyone!

One a week art project 47 of 52: Raining In My Mind

Here is the newest creation for my One A Week Art Project- 47 of 52: Raining In My Mind.

I've been trying some new things lately and a few of my most recent drawings, rain drops seem to be coming to the forefront when creating new art. You first started to see the rain drops appear in the drawing from week 43 "Porky".

This drawing was created on watercolor paper and colored with Watercolor pencils. I then take a paint brush and water. This has been a new medium for me this past year and I have loved working with it. If you are looking to try some watercolor pencils, I would recommend some cheaper watercolor pencils to see how you like it like these:CRAYOLA LLC FORMERLY BINNEY & SMITH BIN4302 WATERCOLOR PENCILS FULL LE (Google Affiliate Ad) before spending a lot of money on a nicer set.

One A Week Art Project: 40 of 52- Death Squad Secret Show 1

Here is the latest of my One A Week Art Project: 40 of 52- Death Squad Secret Show 1.

I can't believe this is the last post of 2012 and that I am already at my 40th post. It's been a great year and I have created a lot of really great art. Twelve more creations and I will have come full circle on two years of creating a piece of art each week. My last one a week project was with a group of artists called The TwinGeekz. It's not easy to keep going with a project like this especially when life throws you curve balls.

This drawing was inspired by the Death Squad podcast Secret Show 1. This show is produced and published by Brian Redban. This podcast is very funny and each show has a new group of comedians interacting with the crowd with special guests. It's wicked cool and worth checking out!

Prints available here.

Lights of the Night 2

I know this weeks post is a couple days late, but it was a long week and I didn't have to time to get to it so I am getting to it now.

Here is my latest drawing for my one a week art project week 16/52: Lights of the Night 2. The first "Lights of the Night" drawing was created back in November for one TwinGeekzArtProject. I created the original with oil pastels and sold it shortly after as I hung it in the Theater Cafe in Worcester, MA. Here I created the second drawing using watercolor pencils.

I think this looks great and I love how the watercolors make the colors looks so vibrant.

Spring is HERE!... for now

It's finally warm up here in the middle of NH!!! Well it's about time, but wait, all that's going to change shortly as it's suppose to get chilly again. :(

Hopefully this summer is a lot better than last 2009.

Anyways, things are moving along for me... I have two commissions I need to finish and I need to start doing some printing for the upcoming art show down in Keene, NH (Art In the Park). Last year was a lot of fun and this year should be even better because now I know what I am doing! :)

I do a lot of my printing with a company called MegaPrint.com.

I just so happen to be a graphic designer at MegaPrint and we do some really great work! We do anything from Photo Enlargements to Tradeshow Graphics, to Vinyl Banners and so on. The great thing about MegaPrint is that we use soy-based inks, the paper is approved by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and we recycle as much of our waste as we can!
Our rates are competitive, our quality is exteremly high and our customers always come First!

Take a look at the site and if you need anything printed just give us a call and we will be happy to assist you! :)
Enjoy the weather folks!
Cheers!

New Art

Okay it's been a while since the last post. I've been busy and busy is always good! I have another drawing (White charcoal and Black charcoal) on recycled cardboard. This is a sail boat for all the sailors out there!
How can you not love a sailor?

News:
My three weeks headlining exhibit in the Keene, NH art gallery (Lotus and Orchid) is finally up. :( However, I have been asked to keep three pieces in the gallery on a month to month basis and I have accepted. I am going to be leaving the Saxophone player "Colour of Music VII" oil painting in and adding two more pieces. Once I have decided what to bring down I will let you know.
In the mean time go to Keene and see the gallery!!!

In other news, I am getting things ready for the "Art In The Park" the first weekend of September. This is a two day affair (Sat. 9/5 and Sun. 9/6). I am busy printing up some prints and creating some t-shirt designs. If you have any shirts that you would like to see let me know.

That's is it for now. Have fun out there.

Cheers!
