What a day!

Well after 6 hours of hell on the rain roads of NH and VT I made to Burlington, VT to hang my artwork in the Daily Planet Restaurant. When I rolled into Burlington the clouds were looming about, however, the rain had not started yet and I was thankful for that.
The installation went smooth and I was in and out in about an hour. Please check out the images I have uploaded of the Daily Planet.

I also got some good pizza at Manhattan Pizza in Burlington. Not bad for a $2 slice. Good beer selection too! Check um out if you get the chance. I would have eaten at the daily planet but they didn't open till 3:30 or 4. When I go to pick up my art in a month I am going to hit up the brew up in town.

Whelp, it's winter and that means hibernation! I will be creating more art when I can and spending time with my love and finishing my sketchbook for the Sketchbook project! The book is due in Feb. and I plan on uploading images from that when I have the time to scan them in.

Take care and have a good holiday!

Cheers!

Sketchbook Project!

The Sketchbook Project is thousands of artists creating art in a sketchbook, that is then mailed to the folks at ArtHouse co-op in NY. Once they receive the book, they tag it and place it in their archive forming an extremely large collection of sketchbooks from artists all over the world. Wicked awesome right? Right! :)

The deadline to sign up is Oct 31st I think?? And sketchbooks must be mailed in by Jan. 15th in time for them to get everything ready to go on TOUR! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that, "they"-the art house co-op peeps- are taking all the sketchbooks on tour from coast-to-coast!!! That way anyone can go and check them out.

So, get your sketchbook NOW and start drawing!! I just ordered mine last week and can't wait to start drawing! The theme I chose -they provide a list of themes to start you off- is "The Greatest Story Ever Told"!
Boom! That just happened! :)

In other news, ART IN THE PARK in Keene, NH is a weekend away... LABOR DAY weekend!!
I know it's busy and crazy but if you are in the Keene area you should definitely go down to Ashuelot Park in Keene, NH to check out over 80+ artists!!!

I hope to see you there!

Cheers!

Hello Summer?

Hello? Summer? Are you there?... Yes you are!! Well not really but it has been feeling like it! WOOOOO!!

It's good to be out in the sun and enjoying life! Updated:
I have been taking a lot more pictures lately and I have been taking some great shots too. Here are a few I have taken recently: You can find more of my Photography here.

In other news, I haven't had time for blogging because I have been busy. I am almost done with the commission paintings I have been working on. The trouble is-as it usually is- I have to wait for paint to dry!! And being as it has been quite warm, it takes longer than usual even with a fan on it.
I am design a new t-shirt for a contest for the band Assembly of Dust. Great music and if you are a risk taker and like to listen to new music take a listen! You won't be disappointed.
I also just finished framing about 4 photos and an oil pastel drawing(which takes time cutting Matte and messing it up and cutting it again (just kidding about the messing up part).
They look great and I am going to try and hang them in a few shops around town. Wish me luck.

Well that's it for now. I need to get back to work. Enjoy the long weekend! It's suppose to be a beautiful one!! Goodbye winter! :)

Cheers!

Happy Earth Day!

It's that time a year again... the ONE day out of the year when we appreciate the one place in the universe (theoretically speaking) where the chemical balance is just right to sustain life. COME ON... ONE day our of 365???

Not to get preachy on you or anything-but I will if I have to- We should be mindful stewards! We need to be. OUR existence depends on it.

Pick up some trash on the side of the road, reycyle, plant a tree, carpool to work when you can. These simple everyday things can change the world.

I found a cool site you should check out and donate to: http://www.americanforests.org/.

If you need some a gift or new art for the house? How about some ECO ART?? Please click the link ECOART.

$1 will plant a tree! I will donate 1% of the proceeds from ECO art purchased to the American Forests service each year from now on out. I haven't posted this on my website yet but I will be making that change soon!

Cheers!

The Weekend....

... was GREAT!! :)
The Bruins evened the series with the Sabers 1 all and it came down to the wire. The g/f and I went on a nice adventure into the beautiful town of Sandwich, NH. I wish I had my camera because the sights were amazing!! Lately we have been getting some crazy weather - I suppose we all have - it has been snowy, rainy and raw. Not too much fun to be outside in, however, it makes for great picture taking.
We were driving along on Saturday and we saw some snow scattered about amongst some fairly long blades of grass that were brilliant-almost neon- Green that just popped with the White snow around it and the dark Blue lake and Gray overcast sky in the background. There were tons of opportunities to stop and take pics....
... Thankfully, I am getting my camera back this weekend.

I also worked on my two commissions this weekend for about 4 1/2 hours! I just started working on the second painting while waiting for the first to dry and it is coming along nicely! I do love using oil paints as I can take an hour off and go back into the painting and it's still wet. As the commissions are a surprise I won't reveal too much information. Once they are completed and shipped out, I will upload the finish product. :)

Until then enjoy , "The Grateful Bruins" icon I have attached above. The Bruins are playing to night and are tied 1-1 going into the 3rd period.... GO BRUINS!!

Cheers!

UPDATE

Okay, last night was a long one as I work some more on the commission's I need to complete and ship out at the end of next month.

Spent 2.5 hours straight last night working on part of the first painting. I am using oil paints and if you're not familiar with oil paint, they take FOREVER to dry...which -depending upon who you are- can be a good thing. To me it is a good thing! :)

I was a bit discouraged at first as I just wanted to go in there and finish the painting bada bing, bada boom... I forgot that it takes time to achieve a certain level of expectations and patience is a virtue... especially while working with oil paints.

As last night shows, taking the time and putting in the effort really pays off and I am truly happy with the way things are going.

While I wait for this painting to dry I am working on several other projects and creating more t-shirts!!!

If you need some new threads for the summer check out the shirts on the previous post or you can visit my Facebook page as I haven't uploaded them to the web site yet.

You can send me a message as well @ moonart.design@gmail.com
